F. SIONIL JOSE, one of the widely-read Filipino writers in the english language. Because of his mother, Jose became lover in reading books especially those works created by Jose Rizal and one of this was the story of Crispin and Basilio wherein he cried after reading it. He founded the Philippine branch of PEN. The Pretenders was his most popular novel. He also one the critically acclaimed Filipino authors. He espouse social justice and change the better life of average people. Rosales Saga novels, a five-novel series that spans for three years and translated into 22 languages around the world. This are the Po-on, The Pretenders, My Brother, My Executioner, Mass, and Tree. He received lot of highest award given in the Philippines this are, Ramon Magsaysay Award for journalism (1980), National Artist Award for Literature (2001), Pablo Neruda Centennial Award (2004), and Palanca Awards.

PAZ MARQUEZ-BENITEZ, a Filipina short-story writer.
She authored the first Filipino modern English-language short story, the Dead Stars in 1925.During her teaching period she became influential figure in writing short-story to many Filipino writers. She published another short-story entitled "A Night in the Hills", her work is considered as the first modern Philippine short-story. She considered writing as a life-long occupation.
In 1919 she founded the "Woman's Home Journal", the first women magazine.

JOSE GARCIA VILLA,a filipino poet, literary critic, short story writer, and a painter.
He was awarded as the National Artist of the Philippines title for literature in 1973.
He was known for introducing the "reversed consonance rime scheme" in writing poetry and also as the comma poet.
He used the penname DOVEGLION (derived from "Dove", "Eagle", "Lion").
He was the leader of Filipino "artsakists", group of writers who believe that art should be "for art's sake".
He published the Man Songs, a series of erotic poems.
He also became one of the founder of the Clay, a mimeographed literary magazine.
Villa even though he lived most in United States, his passion in writing still like a Filipino.Even though he was living abroad he never forget his own country. So that many of his works are dedicated to the Philippines. According to Francia, writer in Asiaweek magazine,"In a world of English-language poetry dominated by British and Americans, Villa stood out for the ascetic brilliance of his poetry and for his national origin." The following are the best works he made, the Footnote to Youth: Tales of the Phillipnes and others in 1933; Many Voices in 1939 and Poems of Doveglion in 1941. As an artist he advised his students not to read any form of fiction in order for their poems "(not become)contaminated by narrative elements", that for him a real poetry is written in words not in ideas.
Villa as a great artist awarded the following Guggenheim Fellowship in creative writing by Conrad Aiken. Another award gave to him was the Academy Award for literature from The American Academy of Arts and Letters.
